Cousins

I talked with Lori and Lisa this week(now last week) and both mentioned they were going to Melissa and Adam's home today for Sunday dinner.  Both were excited to spend cousin time.

We have never lived in close proximity to our cousins which is sad, but just the reality of a mobile world.  Because of the distance, our time with cousins has been limited.  It has been amazing to me, that once you all went off to college you reconnected with cousins so easily.

I can't remember who said this, but it was one of you. "Cousins are great because there are no pretenses you just jump in and are already friends".

So here are a few pictures to remembering growing up time with cousins.  When I first started writing this last week, I thought there would be just a few pictures.  There are actually a lot of pictures and I didn't want to pick and choose, so I will try to get them in the approximate right order with a right year--but they might be a little off (some of the pictures were around the time Mimi was so sick and I wasn't real good to date pictures during those few years).

I hope as each of you have children you will invest in the time to get together often.  I hope you put aside excuses of being too far or too expensive or too busy .  I hope in between time of getting together you continue to call, text, Skype, Face time, Facebook, Blog.... and share those experiences with your kids and kids to come.  Besides needing each other through your adult years, your kids need cousins--because everyone needs a ready friend.

Family news: Since it has taken two weeks to get this done, this weeks news I will add in red.

1.  Congratulations to Katie Jo for finishing her second half marathon.  She ran her 13.1 on Tybee Island GA.  Next on her list of races is a Spartan Race which is a 5K obstacle course sometime in March.  Katie spends her extra time looking for an after school job.  It has proved harder than she anticipated so remember her in prayers so she can live indoors when she heads off to college in 18 months.
2.  Have fun in Texas next weekend Lisa :)  Lisa was officially hired by recreation sports which means a few more hours each week.
3.  Zach is enduring all night shifts at the hospital every other day.  Hang in there!  Lori although super busy this semester with Kinesiology is finding time to sew tiny little swim suits.  Who can blame her ruffles and bow is vastly more fun than stacks of Kinesiology flash cards to memorize.  Zach is down to his last few days of all night shifts at the hospital, then he can return to a more normal schedule.
4.  Peter is back inside the building this week as he moves from the Loading bay to the Processing area.  Peter received his diploma in mail so it is forever official.
5.  Naomi had her nine month check and is "practically perfect" in everyway.  Apparently her one little shortcoming is sleeping all night.  Update on Naomi--she is now practically perfect with NO shortcomings, she (and her parents) had a pretty rough weekend, but she is now sleeping better!
6. August has been having some Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde  moments--but now that his tooth broke through his gums, he is back to his happy disposition.  Maddie Mae is officially a princess and went to the ball with her prince on Friday night--enjoy that Tyler all too soon you won't be her prince of first choice.  Tyler has been interviewing and has had two first phone interviews and both companies want a follow up interview.  He will find out the details of the follow-up this upcoming week.
7.  Dad had his first international book sale, so he has now hit the international sales market when we shipped the book off to Singapore.
