Needed Tools

A couple events prompted todays remember remember moment.  First, Lori must be really looking forward to the end of this semester.  Out of the blue I get an email asking if it was too early to offer some Christmas gift ideas.  Clearly she is needing to focus on a future that does not include anatomy.  Secondly,  Peter has been working on his jeep and it has amazed me about how much he has learned and what he has been able to do with his hands and tools. 

I remember when Peter was 3 ½ he let me know early that he needed some tools for Christmas.  When we went to Target he showed me the exact tools he needed Santa to bring that Christmas.  Peter has always been pretty decisive and I guess Peter was right he did need those tools, it was this first workshop that helped him become familiar with this future hobby of keeping his jeep alive and kicking--maybe even thriving.

This weeks current events:
1.  Christie and Tyler refinished a dresser for Topher.  It looks great and they have enjoyed their sanding and painting time together each evening.
2.  Tyler was featured in a project at work--at least his hands were.  You can see his hands at work here.
3.  Drew had good face time with a few construction companies at a job fair.  The companies are located in Washington DC and Raleigh NC. 
4.  Jessica started work at Univ. of Utah Biology lab. 
5.  Drew and Jessica and making their own kitchen table.  I  can't wait to see it.
6. Peter landed a second job which is helping him to fill his "off-track" time.  Plus bringing in $$$$ which is always wonderful.  Congratulations on finding, hard to find work.
7. Katie ran in a cross country meet in Conyers, GA(Atlanta area).  It was a rough course with lots of hills.  And about her third mile she was having some less  than  generous thoughts about her coach.  There were sixty teams at this meet, which means Katie competed against 420 girls.  In the end she has another PR of 22:57.  Her first mile was 6:31.  Her second mile was 7:58.  Her third mile was 7:45.  The last .1 miles was .42.  She finished in 52nd place.  Good job Baby Barnes!!
8.  Dad and I FINALLY received news about the associate deans job dad applied for so many months ago.  It was not the answer we hoped to hear, but as the week has gone by we both feel like it is exactly what was suppose to happen.  Except Katie having to  leave RHHS, we are excited about our move back to Atlanta.  And we even feel like there are wonderful things waiting for Katie too.  All along it has been our desire that whatever was best for our family would happen.  So we trust and have confidence that God is leading us where we need to be.  It has been sweet hearing from you, our children, this week.  Your displayed love and loyalty in our brief disapointment has warmed our hearts.  After all love and loyalty is why families work.
8. Lisa had some extra income drop in her lap this week.  She will continue working at daycare 2pm-6pm. And her second job she will work from 9am -1pm.  So it is perfect.  She will be cleaning, painting trim, pulling up some cracked floor tile and whatever else her new employer wants her to do.  I hope she still likes her new boss at the end of the job.  I know I am excited about bossing her around--haha!!!
